Acura auto dealers sell the luxury line of cars from Japanese auto maker Honda. Until the release of the Acura, Japanese cars were synonymous with affordability and economy. Acura dealers sold the first luxury line of automobiles from Japan starting in 1986 with the Legend, a V-6 coupe or sedan, and the Integra, sold as either a five door or three door hatch back.

The Acura auto dealers saw a drop in sales during the late 1980s and early 1990s as the NSX models failed to compete against Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, and Lexus. The Acura did find a market in young car enthusiasts called tuners. Tuners make a hobby of modifying the engines of cars making them rev higher. The easy to tune Acura Integra became a favorite among this crowd.

The revamping of certain designs eventually propelled the Acura line back into the forefront of luxury automobiles. In 2004 the third generation Acura TL became the best selling luxury automobile in the United States. The following year the TL won the, Consumers Most Wanted Vehicle, from the automotive web site, Edmunds.Com.
