Ford auto dealers are among the oldest auto dealerships in the country. The Ford Motor Company, which was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford has not only changed the automobile industry, but has had a major impact on industry world wide as well. Henry Ford began selling the Model T cars in 1908. What made the Model T so notable was that it was built using assembly lines. This revolutionary method of production helped keep costs down, and increased production numbers. Two of the early investors in the Ford Motor Company, the Dodge brothers, manufactured a great number of parts for the early Model Ts before they moved on to start their own automobile company.

The Ford Motor company has gone on to acquire Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Mazda, and Land Rover. Ford dealerships, like their subsidiaries, generally operate their own lots however Lincoln and Mercury are often found together as are Jaguar and Land Rover.

Ford car dealers are not only known for innovation in the assembly plant. Ford dealers were among the first in the United States to sell hybrid vehicles, cars that run on gasoline and battery power, to meet the demand for alternative fuel automobiles. The Ford Escape Hybrid made Ford the third automobile company in the world to release a hybrid vehicle. Currently, they offer the Ford Escape, a hybrid sports utility vehicle. Prior to the hybrid, Ford had also released a Crown Victoria model geared towards taxis and fleet vehicles that ran on compressed natural gas.

Individual Ford dealers are not easily found on the companys web site. Instead of a search being prominently displayed, the prospective customer has to go a couple of links in to be presented with a search tool by zip code. The home page of the Ford Motor Company does display the incentive programs they offer nationwide. Ford currently offers incentives for college students, diplomats, members of the United States military, and for disabled individuals through the Ford mobility program. To find current incentives for regular customers, a search engine requests the users zip code and then takes them to local Ford car dealerships to explain the current incentives offered for new car purchases.

Ford car and Ford truck dealers can be found anywhere in the United States. Their line of trucks are quite popular in rural America where trucks are used more commonly than in other parts of the country. This was emphasized by the Built Ford Tough campaign. Another top seller for Ford car dealerships is the Ford Mustang. The Mustang, released in 1964, is considered one of the most sought after vintage muscle cars by collectors. The popularity of the Mustang is so great that it remains in Fords current line of automobiles. Other notable cars found on Ford dealerships are the Ford Thunderbird, which is the Ford stock car model for NASCAR racing, the Ford Explorer which is one of the many sports utility vehicles offered, and the Ford Taurus which is a family sedan that is quite popular on the roadways as well.
